OUR STORY
Established in 2009, LIKHANG BATA started as an independent summer art workshop curriculum which I organized from my living room and shared for my children, neighbors and close friends.
The word LIKHA in the Philippine language means "create," added with another word BATA meaning "child." One might derive that LIKHANG BATA may mean "creative child" or "created by children." In combining these Filipino words, I intended to show the origins of one's artistic skills - child-like wonder- and the richness of our country, the Philippines. |
In LIKHANG BATA CREATIVITY CENTER (LBCC), we envision to see an intelligent Philippine society, and have a mission to promote Filipino culture through art education. LBCC is our medium to feature the fulfillment of sharing appreciation for our country's culture with a lot of emphases on the importance of CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT and ART EDUCATION.
After teaching art from preschool to high school levels and homeschooling all my four kids, I eventually evolved Likhang Bata into a Creativity Center that provides a year-round art appreciation curriculum for toddlers to pre-teens. At present, the LBCC team also organizes Art events with various family-oriented business establishments and educational institutions, and coordinate charity-oriented projects dedicated to Visual Arts. What once used to be a simple idea and distant dream for a young mother and striving artist, LBCC evolved into a gallery of inspired works by children, and is now an avenue of creative workshops, art events, and cultural campaigns that we organize or manage.
This is the past, the present, and the future of LIKHANG BATA CREATIVITY CENTER.
So, feel free to go through the different pages where we share with you our journey through the visual arts. We hope you find inspiration in a single word, brush stroke, or idea posted. And may this humble project spark a love for art and the rich culture of our country, the Philippines.
